History
Poosie Nansie's.built in the 1700s Within its ancient walls the original kitchen remains unchanged with the 18th century, furniture and crockery still in situ. It also contains a clock made by 'Clockie' Brown, a well-known Mauchline Clockmaker and friend of Burns. Its host and hostess Nancy and Geordie Gibson were made famous by the poet. Behind the Inn, 'The Jolly Beggars Howff' held a motley crew of beggars, rogues and vagabonds - a scene witnessed by burns and his companions, James Smith and John Richmond. It was from the happening in this establishment that Burns drew his inspiration for the Jolly Beggars Cantata. Beside Poosie Nansie's is the thoroughfare know as Cowgate, once a Cattle Market enjoying a busy trade. This was the main road to Cumnock. On the wall of the shop at the street corner, a plaque marks the place where Burns spent many happy hours in the Whitefoord Arms. Its legendary host, John Dove, must have witnessed many a meeting of the poet and his contemporaries. It was the scene of the 'Court of Equity' written by Burns for private circulation among his friends, many of whom, like himself, incurred the wrath of the Kirk Session. Opposite Poosie Nansie's once stood a row of house. Behind them in the Churchyard was the green where the communion tent was erected. Burns attended the Holy Fair here he wrote another famous satire which hastened the end of the event.The Inn today still has the same old character as it did away back in its early days this was a popular watering hole for robert burns and his friends and is still a working pub today.

spirit finders Scotland team members arrived at poosie nansies around 11pm ahead of the other team members so they could assess the location for potential hot spots and equipment set ups ,the rest of the team arrived
At 12.30 after being introduced to the owner and her staff we began our investigation into this great location at 1am we split into 2 teams team 1 peter john and Steve and 2 staff members ,team 2 David Ian Michael and Alex and one staff member team one concentrated on the bar ,corridor and the restaurant area ,we team 2 went to the back store room as we entered Michael began picking up on 2 spirit lady’s one being named Moira and the other name he was picking up on was Constance from the year 1988 Michael said the spirit lady Moira may have been a cleaner when she was here he also said he sensed that when staff entered the back store room they felt they were being pushed from the back Michael said one of the spirit lady’s Constance was the oldest of the 2 lady spirits and she is grounded and walks this area and is annoyed at being there when in the physical she would have been the lady of the house ,Michael said there was a religious connection to the property he also said that 3 spirit dogs are around at times with this lady and there was also a connection with French people as he was talking we began taking emf readings and could see the meter going from one reading to the other not staying at one reading before we went to our next location Michael said that Constance was a writer and she was aged about 35 .
We then entered the kitchen area and Michael said we were being followed by one of the spirit lady’s father he could pick up on the name William Paterson or penderson he said the spirit man was in visitation the temperature was fluctuating between 14c and 25c Michael also said there was an Irish connection with this spirit man time now 1.30am we now decide to move onto the next location we enter the wash room emf readings raised in this area Michael is being told by the spirit man being picked up that people were hidden in this area as was referring to as the bog area mucky Irish immigrants being hidden , Michael said the inn was a place of ill repute in its day and said this could be why he was saying one spirit said about people being hidden time now 2pm we then decided to move on to our next location the gents toilet as we entered Michael picked up on that the gents toilet was not what it used to look like he could hear the name Agnew and they were a blacksmith as he could here the noise of him working he also said that when people come into the gents they can feel a presence around them time now 2.15 we move onto the next location we move to the backyard nothing was picked up here but the owner had said to other team members that a small girls voice could be heard crying we took more digital pictures and emf readings before moving to the back door area time now 2.30 on arrival Michael picked up on that it was on 3 different time scales and that there were 2 brothers in spirit but did not like each other one of theses spirits were walking among the 4 of us in this location Alex felt a strange feeling at the back of his head and feeling real cold spirit would then move back to Michael then David and back to Michael Ian who was filming picked some orbs and said when we were asking questions to the spirit the camcorder would go out of focus then back to normal Michael began picking up on a small female child spirit this would account for him not picking up on her in the backyard but where we were standing there was a door giving direct entrance to the backyard we done some more evp but nothing much picked up except and bang noise that sounded like a gun going off time now was 2.45 we decided to join the other team in the restaurant area for a break many evp was picked up by the other team in the areas they investigated.
Time now 3.15am we moved onto our next location the corridor not a lot was picked up in the corridor we took some more digital picks and emf and temperature readings no emf readings but temp was 15c going down to 12c Michael said this was because the spirit lady Constance was following us in the location we then moved onto the lounge area we began asking out for spirit communication and did some more evp Michael picked up on people sitting writing he said there was a spirit man standing up talking he said he could hear laughter as if the man was telling jokes his name was Thomas and he was talking about rat catching Michael said there was also a lot of secrecy going on in the lounge he said the guys sir name was Atkinson the one who was telling the story’s the temperature was 16c dropping to 14c Michael could smell gas in the lounge he said the spirit man was a laird and doesn’t like woman Michael said another male spirit entered the room and was singling out one of the female staff members in the lounge with us Michael was picking up on the name wishart a professional man Michael said he thought he was a mason and this could be what the secrecy was what got picked up , Michael came up with the word joblin then Alex said he was very close to saying the correct name connected to masons Michael said there was conflict between 2 groups because there was 2 meetings taking place because of the mason being there this why they did not like the females being there as they did not allow females temp now 15c time was 3.35am Michael picked up on the name Gordon and said it was a male spirit and he had breathing problems he was saying he would bring peace to the community he was a big fat guy sitting smoking he said the man looked like Churchill and was wearing a pocket watch standing back laughing as Ian was filming in the lounge at certain times when we were asking questions the video camcorder would go out of focus and back to normal again this was happening all over the location we then decided to leave the lounge and head to the burns room time now 3.45am Michael could pick up on a female spirit named Clarissa Michael said he was sitting on her seat and she had a baby with her he said she did not belong here but worked as a house keeper an orb was caught on camcorder going from mike to David Michael said the baby was illegitimate a trigger object of a small teddy and a ball was placed on the fire place Michael says another spirit man named Archie enters the room with a dog with him Alex said he could smell flowers in the burns room
As Michael ask questions to the spirits one of the lights above the fire place began to swing at the same time Michael indicated he was touched on the right shoulder we then decided to go to the bar area temp 19c time 3.45 am Michael started to pick up on 3 spirit people in the bar area one being a small boy who pulls at staff members clothing Michael said the bar had been changed to what it was he said the boy was grounded temperature taken was 18c we had set up a motion detector on the bar as we sat at the back of the bar asking for spirits to do something the motion detector went off on its own as everyone had it in full view it was impossible for anyone to set it off and a small cup on a piece of paper had moved slightly Michael picked up the name Cameron for the spirit boy
We also could here noises coming from the bar stools as if someone was sitting on them the bar owner got a fright as she sat next to the fruit machine 2 bangs came from the table she was at she then got up and went over to sit with another staff member foot steps were also heard in a corner of the bar Michael then picked up on the name Willie Frazer ,he then said another spirit woman had come in with the name Agnes she was in her 50s Ian was filming said he thought the trigger object had moved on the floor a small teddy and ball temperatures dropped around the team in the bar time now was 4.21am
We then decided to meet up with the rest of the team and head to the cellar area where peter had set up CCTV camera Michael picked up on a spirit called Annie who said this is Annie's room staff members don’t like going into the cellar by this time it was 4.45 and we all headed back to the base some team members had to head home but Michael and David remained in the inn to conduct an seance with the owner and 2 staff members we just got started and after asking for spirits to come forward we started to feel the temperature drop Michael then said he had a spirit person called john with us this person said they knew the owner and the bar staff but it may be that because they work there as they see them all the time after a short time David indicated to the owner of footsteps coming from up stairs then everyone could here something coming from upstairs then the Marion said there had been a fire up stairs Michael then said that the spirit man was from upstairs and he had brought more spirits with him and around the table that is why the temperature had dropped and why there was so many cold spots at different areas of the table time now was 6 am and we decided to call it a night .
