The Applebank Inn sits on 'Millheugh' (pronounced Millhew) in a dramatic position overlooking the River Avon. Built around 1740 it is steeped in history and reputed to be haunted.
Broomhill House which sits on the hill above the Applebank was one of several large houses in the Millheugh area. It belonged to a Captain McNeil, a sea-faring gent, who sought his fortune in far-flung exotic locations. Legend says that the Captain returned from one of his adventures with a beautiful Indian princess, with whom he was very much in love. She was installed at Broomhill, but her happiness was short-lived. Her ignorance of Western customs made her a social embarrassment and the Captain forbade her to leave the house except at night. After a while, she was no longer seen at all and the Captain claimed that she had disappeared. However, her ghostly form soon returned to seek revenge.
At first she was seen at the window of Broomhill, beckoning to passers-by. Then she was seen roaming the surrounding orchards and the area known as Morgan Glen. Her revenge on the Captain is not documented, but his death certificate states that he died of premature old age!
The Black Lady was the subject of the first attempt to perform an exorcism live on television. It was in the 1960s, and the BBC team who visited the Larkhall site to document the event found that their cameras were freezing over although the weather was not cold. And was it the Black Lady who added the final macabre touch? When the filming was completed, the director set off for another location and was killed in a car crash.

we arrived at the location around 11.35 pm after unloading our equipment we were told of history of the apple bank we then began taking digital stills of the main bar area ,the apple bank is split into three areas ,the main bar with a seating area and another seating area for eating ,there is also another seating area at the back of the inn
12.20 medium began her walk around in the main bar before heading to the second seating area were she could pick up on some activity of cold blasts of air in the centre of the room and at the mirror on the back wall she then entered the Lady's toilet were she said there had been spirit activity very recent ,we proceeded back to the main bar and entered the first seating area to take some more digital stills.
1.30am we went back to the second seating area we then setup a seance using a Ouija Board we were not long into the procedure when we pickup on a Margaret and and tam one of them may have worked in the inn and the other was a regular both second names will be with held for respect for them and their family's as we carried on with the seance john Gray the owner went to turn off a fridge to kill the noise and everyone accounted for there footsteps coming from the upstairs flat that is part of the inn by this time it was 2.30am we set up a video cam in this area during the seance but never picked anything up at this point ,we then moved from the second seating area to the main bar david the other medium in the group could sense a spirit person sitting on the chair in the first seating area watching the group
David the team leader then went back to the back seating area to set up another camcorder and not before long picked up some light anomalies we only got three orbs on digital stills in the apple bank but more noise and cold air activity the time was now 3.30 we then set up a camcorder facing into the main bar we were all in the main bar including the owner his partner and his guest as we sat quietly the medium could pick up on a male spirit standing in front of her and could here pressure being placed on the front of her neck pressing her against the wall .
The owners partner Paula was complaining of feeling really cold at the back of her at this point the medium said he was pressing against her the temperature was dropping dramatically ,this spirit presence stayed with us for about 10 minutes before leaving .
The time now was 4.am we then began asking out again for any spirit people to come in contact when suddenly a tumbler was thrown from the bar in the second seating area and to the shock of everyone no one was in that area at the time of the tumbler being thrown ,we then were getting abit excited at this ,as we had never experienced this before we carried on calling out for spirits to contact us by this time it was 4.30 we took some more digital stills we also had set up some trigger objects but there no movement with any of them we then decided to call it a night at the apple bank inn but we will say there is spirit activity going on in this inn .
